He finds David easily, having manifested himself at the correct place out of his own desire to meet up with his friend, and enters the establishment with a certain swagger in his step. ]

[David, on the other hand, was far from blandly dressed. If you're going black, you need to ACCENT Corwin. Like David was, with a bright orange blazer. He took up a shot of rum and passed it over to the man.]

The bartenders just threw out someone who climbed onto the bar to dance.

[ Corwin raises an eyebrow at that, but he takes up his shot glass and throws it back, not wincing at the burn at all. ]

Sounds like I should have hurried.

[ Not really. Bar dancing isn't exactly worth a hellride, in his estimation. ]

[It's okay to wince. You don't have to be completely unstoppable, just slightly. David waves for another drink to be brought over.]

[ If he really cared to witness those kinds of antics, he would have made more of an effort to get there sooner. ]

But really, though, I just don't get people's desires to record everything nowadays. Maybe it's me showing my age, but I remember back when we would just use our memories to remember things.

Memories are flawed. And cannot be shared quite the same way as video can. The rosy-haze of memory alters things, and records are far more exact.

Sometimes that rosy-haze alters things for the better. Embellishes the story in the retelling to make the new listeners more interested.

[ A story's worth is all down to the quality of the telling. It would be hard to dissuade Corwin of the benefits of a retelling over a straight video account. ]

[They do disagree, and he doesn't mind that at all.]

[ Some disagreements are just fundamental. Not worth ruining a friendship over, though.

He waves over the bartender and orders a beer. Then thumbs in David's direction with an added: ] Courtesy of my gracious host.

[ He raises his bottle to tap against David's shot glass, then takes a healthy sip. He'll stick to beer tonight. It's always harder to manipulate Shadow the drunker you get, so he'd rather keep his head on his shoulders tonight. ]
