  • Answer the following questions as your character. If your character would refuse to answer, have them respond how they would naturally, but include internal dialogue in either prose or brackets (your choice) with their thoughts on it.
    • Q1: You've been stranded on a desert island with only one standard-size travel suitcase. If you could only have 3 items in that suitcase, what would you want those items to be and why?
Corwin smiles beguilingly, knowing that there's only one thing he would need if he was stranded anywhere: a deck of Trumps. Assuming one of his siblings would allow him to make contact, then he could simply step through and be gone from the desert island in an instant.

Still, better to at least appear to give the question some thought.

"Only three items? Then, I suppose... A hatchet, a fishing net, and... a deck of cards, to pass the time." He pulls out the small case holding his Trumps. "This one, preferably. Old family heirloom, you see. I wouldn't want to be without them."
    • Q2: Tell us about a defining event in your life that you think influenced who you are today.
"Well, my life has been... long, I suppose you would say, full of many defining events. But I guess, if I had to choose one, I'd say the car accident I was in a few years ago. It really did a number on me, gave me retrograde amnesia, and kickstarted a lot of other events into motion. Out of all the events from my more recent past, that's probably the one I would remark upon."
    • Q3: What does family mean to you and who do you consider a part of your family?
"Again, how much time do you have?" He laughs, joking. Just as his life story is longer than anyone has the time to listen to, his family is larger than anyone in their right mind would have patience for.

"I come from a big family. Many brothers and sisters. What does family mean to me? Constant fighting, taking sides with or against each other, jockeying for position in a never ending game of political chess. I guess that's what family is to me. My dad--" He cuts himself off, his father's death still too near to him to ignore the pang of guilt in his chest. He tightens his lips into a hard line, swallows all that emotion down, and tries again.

"My old man never told us any pretty words like, 'I'm proud of you,' or 'Good job, son.' He was a man full of riddles and projects. But then, I suppose he got that from his father. Not quite right in the head, Dworkin..." A sigh. "Suffice it to say, family is a complicated subject."
    • Q4: Tell me about a time you were involved in a personal conflict (not a physical fight). What would you do differently to resolve it?
Corwin spends a good long time considering this question. Given that most of his personal conflicts have devolved into physical fights, he doesn't have much to pull from. What does that say about him, that he trends towards violence more often than not?

"Is it cheating to say, I don't know? All the conflicts I can think of, even if they were difficult, I don't think I would have done anything differently, given the chance. Every step I took progressed the action exactly in the way it needed to be progressed, whether I liked that progression or not, at the time."
    • Q5: Do you have any regrets? If so, what are the biggest ones? If not, what is something you wish you had gotten to do back home?
Corwin's face falls somewhat, but he does his best not to let his sadness show all the way.

"I wish I had spent more time with my sister, Deirdre, before she died." If he had one regret in his life, that was it. "I spent so much time apart from her, not even remembering that she existed... Then when I finally got her back, I ignored her for my own selfish desires. Now that she's gone... I'll never get the chance to see her smile again. That's the one thing I truly regret."
